Carin Perron: Poems & Prose
Mark

Forgive me

If I tell you, in all confidence --
I imagine him right now
inside his dark gray kitchen,
faintly humming, scumbling
something (with Fanchette
purring near the teapot) --
together.

Don't you believe it
If he says his eyes are gray --
I've seen them blinking
their brilliant gas-stove blue

emerging from the dark
as he peeks out

from some unfunny basement
